Two arrested from stolen car - Morphett Vale, South Australia

A man and woman have been arrested following a brief pursuit with a stolen car at Morphett Vale this morning.

Just before 11.30am on Tuesday 9 April, police patrols were called to the vicinity of Bone Street Morphett Vale, after a stolen silver Toyota sedan was scene in the street.

On arrival, the driver and passenger in the stolen car spotted the police patrol car and drove off towards Main South Road, where they turned on to the wrong side of the road and travelled about 150 metres, before dumping the car and running off on foot.

The stolen Toyota however rolled backwards at low speed a short distance hitting a fence.

Police patrols chased the two suspects on foot, but they were both apprehended a short time later without incident.

A 30-year-old Morphett Vale man has been arrested and charged with illegal use, driving to evade police and driving while disqualified, while a 23-year-old woman from Morphett Vale has been charged with just illegal use of a motor vehicle.

They are both expected to be refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court.

There were no injuries in the incident but the stolen car suffered significant damage and needed to be towed from the scene.
