Two boys arrested over school break-in, SA

Two boys aged 10 and 11 have been arrested after they allegedly broke into a South Plympton school this evening, according to SA Police.

Just after 6pm on Monday 2 October, Sturt patrols responded to an alarm activation at the Forbes Primary School on Thomas Street.

On police arrival, three children were seen inside a school building and they attempted to run from officers, but they were quickly rounded up and detained.

A check of the school discovered significant damage, including paint splashed over walls, floors and carpets and damage to electronic equipment.

Sturt Police subsequently arrested and charged a 10 and an 11-year-old boy both from Ascot Park, with aggravated serious criminal trespass and property damage. While a 7-year-old boy was returned home and cautioned.

Both boys have been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court at a later date.

With the October school holidays just getting started the public are asked to report any suspicious persons or activity at schools, colleges and kindergartens in your local community in the next two weeks, to the police assistance line on 131 444.
