Two charged after man loses finger in machete attack in Carramar

Officers have charged a man and a woman after an alleged assault with a machete at Carramar yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.20am (Wednesday 5 December 2018), officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended a unit on River Avenue, after reports a man was attacked in his unit by another man armed with a machete.

The 43-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a severed finger, a severe injury to his left arm, and lacerations to his back, chest, face and legs.

The injured man was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Following inquiries, about 8am yesterday (Wednesday 5 December 2018), police arrested a 40-year-old woman at a home on James Street, Fairfield East.

She was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with hinder apprehension of person who committed serious offence.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday 8 January 2019.

About 7.50am today (Thursday 6 December 2018), a 33-year-old man was arrested on Mandarin Street, Fairfield.

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with cause wound with intent to murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 6 December 2018), where he was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on Tuesday 20 February 2018.
