Two charged after police assaulted, NSW

Two men will appear in court today after allegedly assaulting police at a hotel yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 4pm on Sunday 7 October 2018, police were conducting a business inspection at a licensed premises on Sunnyholt Road at Kings Park.

Several hundred patrons were present watching a televised event.

During their inspection the two officers were approached by two men who were intoxicated.

The officers asked one of the men to leave the premises after which he became aggressive towards them.

The two men then became involved in a physical altercation with the officers, during which both police were assaulted.

Police deployed OC spray and a taser during the incident before calling for urgent assistance.

The two men were arrested and conveyed to Riverstone Police Station.

A 27-year-old man was charged with assault police causing actual bodily harm (x 2), affray and resist arrest.

A 29-year-old man was charged with assault police causing actual bodily harm (x 2), affray, resist arrest and intimidation.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Monday 8 October 2018).


The two officers received face and hand injuries and were taken to Norwest Private Hospital. They were treated for minor injuries and released.
