Two charged after police pursuit ended with road spikes near Young, NSW

A man and a woman have been charged following a pursuit in Boorowa, near Young, that ended after police deployed road spikes yesterday afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 10am yesterday, officers attempted to stop a Nissan Maxima on Milthorpe Road, Blayney. The driver allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was commenced.

The pursuit was later terminated due to safety concerns.

About 1pm, a second pursuit commenced on Lachlan Valley Way, Cowra, and was also terminated due to safety concerns.

About 2pm yesterday, the car allegedly failed to stop for a third time on Lachlan Valley Way, Boorowa and a third pursuit commenced.

During the pursuit, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command successfully deployed road spikes, before the car was stopped on Cunningar Road, Boroowa.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, and passenger, a 23-year-old woman, were both arrested and taken to Cootamundra Police Station.

No one was injured during the incident.

The driver was charged with 16 offences including; police pursuit (Skye’s law) x2, other driving offences, a property offence, and had a warrant executed.

The passenger was charged with a property offence and had warrants executed.

Both were refused bail and are due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today.
