A man and a teenage boy will face court following a pursuit in Sydney's west yesterday.
Just after 4pm yesterday (Sunday 3 May 2026), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling at the intersection of Carlisle Avenue and Luxford Road, Mount Druitt, when a blue hatchback was sighted.
Check revealed the vehicle was stolen from The Ponds on Friday 24 April 2026.
When the vehicle failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated
The pursuit continued through Horsley Road, near Canley Vale Road, Wetherill Park, where it was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the vehicle collided with another vehicle before it crashed into a traffic light pole near Cobbett Street, Wetherill Park, where police arrested the 19-year-old male passenger.
The two occupants of the second vehicle were checked as precaution and no injuries were reported.
Following further inquiries, with the assistance from Dog Squad, the driver – a 17-year-old boy – was also arrested nearby.
The boy was subjected to a roadside drug test, returned with an alleged positive reading.
They were both taken to Cabramatta Police Station where an oral fluid sample was obtained for a further analysis.
The boy was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, Class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45km/h, not stop at stop line at red light, negligent driving, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court today (Monday 4 May 2026).
The man was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 27 May 2026.
