Two Charged in Albion Park Fire by Strike Force Cuber

A woman is due to appear in court today charged over a suspicious house fire south of Wollongong.

Shortly before 11am on Saturday 24 June 2023, emergency services responded to reports of a house fire on Terry Street, Albion Park.

Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire; however, the building was extensively damaged.

No one was home at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Cuber.

Following inquiries, police yesterday (Monday 21 August 2023), arrested a 47-year-old woman and charged her with damage property by fire/ explosives, and conceal serious indictable offence.

She was refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Tuesday 22 August 2023).

A 39-year-old man remains before the court charged in relation to the same incident after being arrested in Unanderra last Tuesday (15 August 20223). He was taken to Oak Flats Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire/ explosives.

He remains in custody to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 5 September 2023.
