Two Charged in Prairiewood Shooting: Strike Force Calomba

Police have charged two men following an investigation into a public place shooting in Sydney's south west last year.

On Saturday 26 July 2025, officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after a number of shots were allegedly fired at a unit on Calabria Lane, Prairiewood, about 11.25pm on Friday 25 July 2025.

Police were told a white Ford Ute was seen in the vicinity at the time of incident.

The occupant of the home – an 80-year-old woman – was not injured.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.

On Wednesday 30 July 2025, police located the white Ute abandoned on Diprose Street, Fairfield, where another crime scene was established, and the vehicle was seized to be forensically examined.

Checks led police to allege the vehicle was stolen from the Tuncurry area on Sunday 13 July 2025.

On Wednesday 17 December 2025, strike force detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at a correctional facility in Silverwater.

He was charged with steal motor vehicle and refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 18 December 2025, where he was refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 15 January 2026. He remains before the court.

Following further inquiries, about 9.20am today (Wednesday 11 February 2026), detectives arrested a 33-year-old man in Bathurst.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with fire firearm at dwelling organised criminal activity, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 today (Wednesday 11 February 2026).
