Two men have been charged by detectives investigating a home invasion and assault at Sutherland last month.
Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command have been investigating the aggravated break and enter of a home unit on Robertson Street about 12.01am on 23 April 2025.
A 49-year-old man suffered a broken left leg and arm injuries when he was allegedly beaten with a hammer by two men who had forced their way into the home. The man required surgery for his injuries.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed about 6am today (Thursday 15 May 2025), with 47-year-old man arrested at a home on Shaw Street, Kingsgrove. He was taken to Kogarah Police Station.
A second man, aged 44, was arrested when a warrant was executed at the same time at a home at Myra Road, Dulwich Hill. he was taken to Newtown Police Station.
Numerous items were seized from both homes including clothing, three lump hammers, methylamphetamine, more than $800 cash and multiple mobile phones. All have been taken for examination.
The older man has now been charged with specially aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, and participate in criminal group. He was bail refused to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 15 May 2025).
