Two charged with 174 shoplifting and stolen goods offences in Sydney

A man and a woman have been charged following an investigation into a large scale retail theft in Sydney, NSW Police say.

Following inquiries by detectives from Sydney City Proactive Crime Team, a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested on Liverpool Street, Sydney, today.

They were taken to Day Street Police Station where the man was charged with 41 counts of shoplifting and 41 counts of dispose of stolen property.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 24 February 2017.

The woman was charged with 41 counts of shoplifting and 50 counts of dispose of stolen property.

She was also granted strict conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 20 February 2017.

It’s alleged the pair stole several home entertainment items from various stores around Sydney and disposed of them at pawn shops between September 2016 and February 2017.
