Two charged with property offences in South Wentworthville

A man and a woman have been charged following an alleged break-in at South Wentworthville yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 10am today, the resident of a home on Chelmsford Road returned to find a man allegedly inside his house. The man allegedly threatened the resident with a knife.

The resident was able to hide in the house before the man ran off and was last seen getting into a white Volkswagen Golf.

Police from Holroyd Local Area Command were notified of the incident and allegedly stopped the Volkswagen in Boronia Street.

A man and a woman in the Volkswagen were searched and officers allegedly located property taken from a home in West Pennant Hills on the weekend.

The man and the woman were arrested and taken to Merrylands Police Station.

A 29-year-old man was charged with break, enter and commit serious indictable offence and goods in custody. He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today tomorrow.

A 20-year-old woman was charged with break, enter and steal. She was granted conditional bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 13 July 2016.

A search warrant was also executed at a home in South Wentworthville about 4pm yesterday. Officers allegedly located clothing, electronic devices and property suspected of being stolen.

Investigations are continuing.
