Two Children Killed by Car in Cabramatta

Two children have died after being struck by a vehicle in Sydney's south-west this afternoon.

About 3.15pm today (Wednesday 17 June 2026), emergency services were called to the intersection of Joseph and Gilbert Street, Cabramatta, following reports a crash.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and found two children – both aged under 5 – had been struck by a car while seated in a pram.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the children at the scene, before they were taken to hospital in a critical condition, where they have since died.

They are yet to be formally identified.

A 33-year-old woman known to the children was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The driver – a 56-year-old man – was uninjured, arrested and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and investigations have commenced into the circumstances of the crash with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Cumberland Highway is closed southbound in Cabramatta Gilbert Street and Coventry Road.

Investigations are continuing.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
