Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal crash in Ferntree Gully this afternoon.
It is understood a car crashed into a pole on Oaklands Avenue about 5.55pm.
Two yet-to be formally identified passengers of the vehicle died at the scene.
The male driver was taken to hospital under police guard via ambulance.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing.
