Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after two people died following a two vehicle collision in Tatura this afternoon.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Hooper Road and Merrigum-Ardmona Road just before 4.30pm.
The male driver of the first vehicle along with his female passenger, died at the scene.
A second female passenger, a woman in her 70s, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Two men in the second vehicle both sustained serious injuries.
The driver was transported to hospital by road and his passenger was airlifted to hospital.
Police are continuing to establish the circumstances and an investigation is ongoing.
