Two face court over criminal neglect, South Australia

Two people appeared in court yesterday charged with criminal neglect.

Police and paramedics were called to a medical centre at Blair Athol about 10.30am on Monday 8 August after a young child was presented at the clinic with serious injuries.

The two-year-old child was conveyed to the Women's and Children's Hospital by ambulance.

Following investigations, detectives from Western District Child and Family Investigation Section arrested a 40-year-old man of no fixed address and a 34-year-old Freeling woman and charged them with criminal neglect. They were refused police bail and appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 15 August.

The man was remanded in custody to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 1 December.

The woman was remanded in custody to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 19 August.
