Two further teens arrested; murder charges laid after fatal assault at Doonside

Five teenagers have been charged with murder following the fatal assault of a teenage boy in Sydney's west earlier this week.

About 5.40pm on Wednesday (4 August 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Perigee Close, Doonside, following reports of an assault.

A 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive with injuries to his head and chest. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, where he died today (Saturday 7 August 2021).

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Brens.

As part of initial inquiries, two boys – aged 13 and 15 – and a 15-year-old girl were charged and remain before the court.

Following further inquiries, a second 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, were arrested at Ermington just after 2.30pm on Thursday (5 August 2021).

They were taken to Granville Police Station and both charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent and take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm.

The five teens have subsequently been charged with the additional offence of murder.

They have appeared in children's court and were formally refused bail to reappear on Friday 13 August 2021.

Investigations are continuing.
