Two in custody after armed robbery, NSW

A man and woman are in custody after a taxi driver was allegedly robbed in Sydney’s south, NSW Police say.

About 4.15pm today, police were called to Rocky Point Road, Sans Souci, after a taxi driver was reportedly robbed.

Witnesses have told police that during the incident the taxi driver was chased by the man, who was allegedly armed with a small axe.

Police from St George Local Area Command attended the scene and arrested a male and female at the scene.

They’ve been taken to St George Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries.

The taxi driver was uninjured and is providing a statement to police.

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by forensic specialists.

One southbound lane on Rocky Point Road is closed.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
