Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman today announced two appointments - Anthony Gett is the state's newest Deputy Chief Magistrate, while Susan Warrington will become a Magistrate in Cairns.
"Queensland's judiciary, and by extension the community at large, is in very safe hands when you consider the talent and work ethos of people like Deputy Chief Magistrate Gett and Magistrate Warrington," Minister Fentiman said.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Gett replaces Magistrate Leanne O'Shea, who has retired.
"Deputy Chief Magistrate O'Shea made a valuable contribution as a magistrate for almost 20 years and was Deputy Chief Magistrate for the last six of those," Minister Fentiman said.
Both appointments were made after an extensive selection process involving the Judicial Appointments Advisory Panel, which includes representatives from the Queensland Law Society and the Bar Association of Queensland.
"I congratulate the new appointees and wish them every success in their roles," Minister Fentiman said.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Gett's appointment begins formally from tomorrow (12 March) while Magistrate Warrington begins on Monday (15 March).
