Two men and officer charged with assault, NSW

Two men and an officer have been charged with assault following an incident in Sydney’s south west earlier this year, NSW Police say.

Police attended a community hall on Chopin Close, Bonnyrigg Heights, about 10.55pm on Friday 17 August 2018, after a 36-year-old man, an off-duty senior constable, was stabbed in the torso, while trying to detain a 17-year-old boy.

As responding police were arresting the 17-year-old boy, it’s alleged he was assaulted by four men.

Following investigations by Professional Standards Command, two men – aged 38 and 43 – have been issued Future Court Attendance Notices for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both men are to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday 19 November 2018.

A 33-year-old constable attached to South West Metropolitan Region has been served a Future Court Attendance Notice for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, intentionally record intimate image without consent, and intentionally distribute intimate image without consent.

He has been granted bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 20 November 2018.

The officer’s work status will be reviewed.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
