Two men charged after firearms seized during search of restaurant, NSW

Two men have been charged after four firearms were located during a search of a restaurant in Sydney’s south-west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 11am yesterday, police conducted a business inspection under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act at a restaurant on Terminus Street, Liverpool.

Shortly after, officers applied for and were granted a search warrant after locating MDMA in the office.

During the search, police located a 1911 Fabrique Nationale pistol with empty magazines, a loaded .38 calibre Smith and Wesson revolver, a loaded Beretta model 34 9mm pistol in the roof cavity, and a small amount of brown powder, believed to be amphetamine.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at the location and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of unauthorised possession of a pistol.

Also as police arrived at the location, a 46-year-old man was stopped outside the restaurant after officers saw him run from the rear of kitchen.

Following a search of the man’s vehicle, police located and seized a .22 calibre bolt action rifle wrapped in a black plastic bag.

The man was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with unauthorised possession of a firearm and acquire firearm without licence/permit.

Both men were refused bail and appeared at Liverpool Local Court today.
