Two men will face court today charged following a pursuit in the state's central west.
About 12.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 June 2025), officers attached to Western Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (DVHROT) were patrolling Argyle Avenue, Dubbo, when they attempted to stop a blue Holden Cruze for the purpose of a random breath test.
When it failed to stop, a pursuit commenced.
The pursuit continued out of Dubbo on the Mitchell Highway towards Wellington, Nanima Village and Stuart Town where it stopped at the end of Canobola Road.
A passenger got out to open a gate before running away. He was arrested a short time later following a foot pursuit.
Police approached the driver and following a struggle he was arrested.
The two men – aged 42 and 34 – were taken to Wellington Police Station.
The older man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive while licence cancelled, and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
Police executed an outstanding arrest warrant on the other man for property and firearm-related offences.
Both men were refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 12 June 2025).
The DVHROT team were assisted by officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District, Operational Support Group (OSG), and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.
