Two men charged following shootings- Dapto, NSW

Two men will face court today on several firearm offences following two separate shooting incidents in Wollongong earlier this month, NSW Police say.

Just before 11.30pm on Friday 3 February 2017, police were called to an address off Avondale Road, Penrose, following reports of shots being fired.

Shortly after, police were also called to a home in Wyndarra Way, Koonawarra, after reports of shots being fired.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended both locations and established crime scenes and found what are believed to be bullet holes in a car outside one of the homes.

A Mitsubishi Pajero, which was reportedly seen in the street at the time of both incidents, was found alight in a nearby, a short time later.

Following investigations, police attended a home on Calderwood Road, Calderwood, and arrested an 18-year-old man about 3pm today.

A search warrant was executed and police allegedly located and seized methylamphetamine, an imitation pistol and ammunition.

The man was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with two counts of discharge firearm in a public place, steal motor vehicle and damage property by fire, supply prohibited drug, posses pistol, not keep firearm safe and possess ammunition.

A short time later, a 22-year-old man also attended Lake Illawarra Police Station. He was arrested and charged with two counts of discharge firearm in a public place and steal motor vehicle and damage property by fire.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
