Two men charged with drug and firearm offences following pursuit, NSW

Two men have been charged with alleged drug and firearm offences following a police pursuit in Coffs Harbour yesterday.

Just before 9am today, officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attempted to stop a black Toyota Lexus on Kiddel Place.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit commenced during which the Toyota was involved in a minor collision with another car and hit a parked police vehicle, failing to stop on both occasions.

Police will further allege a firearm and drugs suspected of being methamphetamine were thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit, which were recovered by police.

At a public reserve near Hogbin Drive, Coffs Harbour , the vehicle came to a stop after colliding with another police vehicle. The driver, a 36-year-old man, and the passenger, a 33-year-old man, were arrested.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located further drugs, suspected of being methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy, cannabis, and cash.

The men were taken Coffs Harbour Police Station where the older was charged with police pursuit, two counts of supply prohibited drugs, drive whilst disqualified, dealing with proceeds of crime and two outstanding warrants.

The younger was charged with five firearm offences, supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity) and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

Both men were refused bail, to appear at Coffs Harbour Bail Court tomorrow.
