Two men are under police guard in hospital following the death of a man in Campbellfield overnight.
The pair, a 20-year-old from Yarraville and a 22-year-old from Westmeadows, who came to police attention after being dropped at a hospital with injuries; will be interviewed in relation to the incident.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating following reports a man had been shot outside a property in Gentles Avenue, on Friday 20 December, about 10.10pm.
The 60-year-old victim, from Craigieburn, was taken to hospital where he died.
Detectives are also investigating whether the discovery of a burnt-out car in Northbourne Road in Campbellfield just after 11pm is linked to the incident.
At this stage it is believed the incident was targeted and the people involved are known to one another.
