Two men wanted after assault and attempted carjacking near Wollongong

Police are appealing for information to identify a group of men, as investigations continue into an alleged attempted carjacking and assault near Wollongong.

Between 8pm Tuesday (27 August 2019) and 7am Wednesday (28 August 2019), a white Toyota Kluger was allegedly stolen from a home in Mount Ousley.

Shortly after 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday 28 August 2019), a 26-year-old man was riding a motorcycle along Cordeaux Road, Mount Kembla, when he was allegedly stopped by a group of men in the stolen Kluger.

The motorcycle was allegedly hit twice by the Kluger before the rider was knocked from his motorcycle and assaulted by passengers from the vehicle. The motorcycle rider sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

The Kluger then sped off and was sighted about 3pm travelling through Coniston.

Shortly after 7pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 August 2019), police located the stolen Kluger, on fire, on a pedestrian footpath at the end of Gilba Road in Koonawarra. NSW Rural Fire Service attended the scene and extinguished the fire which had spread to surrounding bushland.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have dashcam vision or any further information about the whereabouts of the men to come forward.

The first man has been described as having a solid build, aged 18-25, approximately 180cm tall and was wearing a black Adidas jumper or jacket with white stripes on the sleeves, beige coloured shorts and a black hat with white writing on the front at the time of the alleged assault.

The second man has been described as having a solid build, aged 18-25, approximately 180cm tall, wearing a green hoodie, black track pants and black running shoes with lime green soles.
