Two more charged following Morwell shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged two more people following a shooting in Morwell in March, Victoria Police say.

A 30-year-old Broome man was extradited from Broome on 2 April and a 37-year-old Hastings man was arrested in Hastings on 2 May.

Both have been charged with intentionally cause serious injury and aggravated home invasion, and have been remanded to appear at Latrobe Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Three other people have already been charged in relation to the shooting, which occurred at a residential property on Avondale Road on 23 February.

A 32-year-old Morwell man sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the incident.

A 36-year-old Frankston North man was charged on 5 March with intentionally cause serious injury, aggravated home invasion with a firearm, armed robbery, prohibited person possess firearm, prohibited person possess ammunition and possess drug of dependency (ICE).

A 28-year-old Capel Sound man was charged on 5 March with intentionally cause serious injury, aggravated home invasion with a firearm, armed robbery and possess drug of dependency (cannabis).

A 30-year-old Churchill woman was charged on 1 March with intentionally cause serious injury, aggravated home invasion with a firearm and armed robbery.

All three were remanded in custody to appear in Latrobe Magistrate’s Court on 31 May.
