Police have charged two motorbike riders in Launceston after they were detected speeding on unregistered motorbikes under the influence of drugs.
Around 5.15pm on Tuesday members of Northern Road & Public Order Services detected two motorbikes travelling together in excess of 160Kph, east-bound on the Bass Highway between Westbury and Launceston.
A short time later police located the riders in the Launceston CBD. Both riders failed roadside drug testing and both motorbikes were unregistered.
A 29-year-old Deloraine man and a 32-year-old Prospect man will face charges for speeding, unregistered/uninsured motor vehicle, and drug offences. They will appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
Both motorbikes were impounded by police for 28 days.
