Two NSW Men To Be Extradited Over Yorketown Robbery

Two men have been extradited by Yorke Mid North Detectives from Broken Hill today following the ongoing investigation into a break-in and robbery at Yorketown last year.

The two men, aged 55 and 51 from Broken Hill, will face several charges following an incident at a rural property on St Vincent Highway on 23 February 2025.

Police will allege that the men threatened the occupant with a firearm before stealing 14 firearms and approximately one million dollars in cash.

The victim, a 74-year-old man, sustained injuries to his head and was treated at the local hospital.

The two men were arrested yesterday and appeared in the Broken Hill Magistrates Court this morning where Detectives applied to have them extradited back to South Australia.

Both men are expected appear via video link before the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on Monday 23 March. They will be charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful detention and making threats to kill.

The two men were previously arrested by NSW police after Broken Hill patrols stopped a white Hyundai van on the Barrier Highway near Broken Hill on Monday 24 February. NSW police recovered the stolen firearms along with a large amount of cash and other items from the Yorketown break-in.
