Two people charged over spending spree with stolen credit card, NSW

A man and a woman have been charged with multiple fraud offences after they allegedly went on a spending spree with a stolen credit card across Sydney’s Inner West, NSW Police say.

Between the 16 and 17 September 2018 a 37-year-old man lost his wallet containing his credit card in Erskineville. After noticing transactions being made on his card the man contacted police and an investigation was commenced.

It’s alleged a man and a woman, both aged 38, came into possession of the credit card and used it on more than 40 occasions totalling $3000 in purchases.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command stopped a vehicle in Marrickville yesterday (Monday 22 October 2018) and arrested the man and woman.

The man was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with 8 fraud offences.

He was given conditional bail and will appear in Newtown Local Court on Thursday 15 November 2018.

The woman was arrested taken to her residence in Pligram Avenue, Marrickville, where a search warrant was executed and a number of items were seized.

She was then taken to Newtown Police Station where she was charged with 13 fraud offences and given unconditional bail.

She is also due to appear in Newtown Local Court on Thursday 15 November 2018.
