Two police officers assaulted, man charged in Randwick

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting two police officers at a music festival in Randwick on the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 6.30pm on Saturday 30 September 2017, police will allege two constables had stopped a man at the festival in Centennial Park.

A 27-year-old man allegedly intervened and assaulted the two officers, who are both attached to the Eastern Beaches Local Area Command.

One police officer was treated at Prince of Wales Hospital for a broken nose and facial injuries.

The second officer suffered a concussion and bruising to his jaw and forehead. He was treated at St Vincent’s Hospital.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with affray, assault police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, and assault police officer.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 25 October 2017.
