Two teenagers will re-appear at court today after being charged by detectives investigating a series of alleged armed robberies in Sydney’s west and south-west. , NSW Police say
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Rosberry, to investigate a series of alleged armed robberies at fast-food restaurants in St Marys, Plumpton, Cambridge Park, and Campbelltown.
Strike force detectives were also investigating the theft of a Jeep Cherokee from Schofields, and an alleged fraud (fail to pay for fuel) at Blacktown.
It will be alleged in court that the offences were committed between Sunday 4 and Wednesday 7 November 2018.
About 12.30am last Friday (9 November 2018), officers from Nepean Police Area Command attempted to stop the Jeep Cherokee, on the Great Western Highway, St Marys.
The driver failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, but terminated a short time later for safety reasons.
Just before 2.30am, the Jeep was observed by police on North Parade, Mt Druitt, and a pursuit was initiated before being monitored by PolAir.
The Jeep was tracked by PolAir to Harrington Street, Cabramatta, where it came to a stop. A short time later, police arrested two boys, both aged 17.
Both teenagers were taken to Fairfield Hospital for treatment, before being taken to Fairfield Police Station.
During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized a number of items relevant to investigation under Strike Force Rosberry.
From 10.30am, strike force detectives executed two search warrants at homes at Dharruk and Hebersham, where they seized further items relevant to the investigation.
The 17-year-old Dharruk boy was charged with three counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The 17-year-old Hebersham boy was charged with two counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, two counts of police pursuit – not stop (Skye’s Law), dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and unlicensed driver.
Both teenagers were refused bail and appeared at bail court on Saturday (10 November 2018), and are due to re-appear today (Wednesday 14 November 2018).
