Two-toed kitty salutes supporters who made her new life of love possible

Remember this unique little lady? Spock's case was an emergency - the poor cat arrived at RSPCA's Lonsdale shelter via animal ambulance with her right paw literally hanging on a thread.

The underweight, flea-ridden three-year-old was in danger of losing her paw entirely and had no choice but to undergo surgery.

We couldn't even imagine her pain.

Now named Willow, the beautifully affectionate feline is happy and healthy in her forever home with adopted owner Karen - and it's all thanks to the kindness of our generous supporters who made her recovery possible.

Compassionate South Australians donate to save Willow from dire straits

Working around the deep lacerations in Willow's paw, our veterinary team carefully operated to remove her two most badly infected toes and care for her wound.

Incredibly, the operation was a success, and Willow was left with a look more unique than most (she's now permanently doing the Vulcan salutation from Star Trek!)

Willow's paw was saved and she was on the road to recovery, but she was still in need of some tender love and care.

So we asked for help to cover the costs of her surgery and rehabilitation - and we were so touched by the response.

Thanks to the extreme generosity of caring members of the community we raised over $1,000, and Willow was soon ready for a home where she would be truly well-loved and looked after.

Willow's unique look and affectionate nature catches the eye of her new fur-mum

When Karen lost her cat of 19 years earlier this year, she was devastated. Only a truly special feline would be the right fit after her loss, and there was just something about Willow and her unique little paw.

"When I came to the shelter and sat down next to Willow, she came up and started rubbing against me," Karen says.

"She had such a uniqueness and just seemed to be the right fit."

Since taking Willow home only a week ago, Karen has fallen in love with the beautiful white, orange and black kitty.

"She has little quirks that make her special," Karen says.

She tells us that Willow is a little 'livewire' who loves to look out the window and watch the birds and simply can't get enough cuddles.

Sweet little Willow couldn't be happier - she loves crawling into bed with Karen and rubbing against her to show her affection.

A lifetime of love with a long-time cat rescuer

Having always adopted cats, Karen knows that any animal who comes into her home will be well-loved and looked after, and live a long life.

"Rescue cats are the way to go," Karen says.

"It's just a matter of finding the right one - and I know I did."

We know that Willow couldn't have found a more perfect home or have a brighter future ahead of her, and it's all thanks to those who made her recovery possible with their generous donations.

Thank you.

From the bottom of our hearts, we're so grateful to all our supporters who made Willow's new life with Karen a reality. If you'd like to continue helping animals just like Willow, head over here to see our current emergency appeals.
