Two women assaulted in Parramatta

Witnesses are being urged to come forward after two women were assaulted by an unknown man in Parramatta, NSW Police say.

About 9.15pm (12 November 2016), officers from Parramatta Local Area Command were called to Harris Street, Parramatta, following reports of a man acting suspiciously.

Police have been told an unknown man allegedly used a sharp object to strike a 33-year-old woman to her face.

The man then punched a 59-year-old woman to her shoulder and ran away.

The 33-year-old woman sustained bruising and swelling to her cheek.

The 59-year-old woman sustained swelling to her shoulder.

Officers from Parramatta Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

Police would like to speak to a man depicted in CCTV images, who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, between 25 to 30 years of age, with a black mullet-style haircut. He is thought to frequent the Granville and Harris Park areas.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
