Two women charged after police assaulted, NSW

Two women have been charged after allegedly assaulting police at a beach in Sydney’s south-east yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just before 3pm (Monday 25 December 2017), police attended Little Bay Beach and observed an unauthorised party in a designated alcohol-free zone.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Commands with the assistance from Central Metropolitan Enforcement Squad (ODIN) responded to disperse the crowd, of approximately three thousand people.

Further assistance was provided by officers from Botany Bay and Newtown Local Area Commands, Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command and Traffic & Highway Patrol Command.

While dispersing the crowd, two officers were injured after allegedly being struck with bottles and assaulted. They were treated on scene for minor injuries.

Two women were arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station.

A 23-year-old woman was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.

A 25-year-old woman was charged with assault officer in execution of duty.

Both were granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 31 January 2017.
