Two women charged after providing false report in Wyong

Two women have been charged after police received alleged false reports of an assault on the state’s north coast this week, NSW Police say.

About 6.40pm on Monday 26 September 2016, two women – aged 23 and 22 – attended Wyong Police Station and reported an alleged assault.

Police were allegedly told that the 23-year-old woman was assaulted and threatened by a 24-year-old man in San Remo earlier in the day.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command commenced investigations into the report.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Scenic Drive, San Remo and spoke to a 24-year-old man.

The 22-year-old woman and 23-year-old woman were spoken to again at Wyong Police Station and subsequently placed under arrest.

The 23-year-old woman was charged with enter inclosed lands and false representation resulting in police investigation.

The 22-year-old woman was charged with enter inclosed lands, common assault and false representation resulting in police investigation.

Both women were granted conditional bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on 13 October 2016.
