Two youths charged over Midlands evade incident

Two 17-year-olds have been charged over an evade incident in the Midlands yesterday afternoon.

The youths were taken into custody about 3:50pm, after a white Toyota Camry sedan (reportedly stolen from Launceston) evaded police, allegedly travelling at speeds of about 160km/h on the wrong side of the road on Mud Walls Road near Jericho.

The car was located abandoned on a rural property on Lovely Banks Road, and the two youths were found nearby.

The youths have been charged with motor vehicle stealing, stealing, trespass and other offences.

Investigations are ongoing and police are seeking further information about the incident.
