UK Minister for Middle East Amanda Milling co-chairs Jordan Taskforce meeting with Minister Shraideh

The minister was joined by Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh in co-chairing the fourth Jordan Taskforce meeting since the 2019 London Initiative.

Senior representatives and ambassadors from donor countries and international financial institutions also participated in the meeting. During the meeting, attendees recognised Jordan's progress in implementing economic reforms and galvanised support for further reforms which will strengthen Jordan's stability and prosperity.

Participants discussed how best to support Jordan to deliver inclusive and sustainable economic growth and attract finance to deliver its priorities.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Milling said:

Jordan has demonstrated its commitment to delivering urgent and impactful reforms, including by announcing critical reforms in the energy sector.

It is important to maintain momentum on the steps necessary to deliver inclusive and sustainable growth and jobs for Jordanians and for Jordan's friends continue to support it in doing so.

I am proud that the UK is at heart of international support for these reforms.

We will continue to help Jordan deliver the ambitious commitments made at CoP26, to increase its economic stability and to continue to grow and thrive.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister for Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh said:

We are achieving economic and structural reforms through the Reform Matrix and Jordan's IMF program. We continue to need support to transform Jordan into digital and green economy, stimulate public sector investment, support vulnerable people and work to create more jobs to achieve economic growth.
