GENEVA - The Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, will visit Doha, Qatar from 1 to 4 December 2025, to meet with key regional and international actors.
He will meet officials of the Government of Qatar, Afghans and members of the international community based in Qatar to discuss the ways in which states in the region and beyond can stand up for the rights of the people of Afghanistan.
The UN Human Rights Council renewed the Special Rapporteur's mandate by consensus in October 2025. Bennett's visit to the region reflects his ongoing efforts to build a coordinated response to the situation in Afghanistan and to discuss how an "all tools" approach is necessary to improve human rights for all Afghans.
