Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. Colin Kahl met with Latvian Ministry of Defense State Secretary Janis Garisons here at the Pentagon, March 28.
The leaders discussed efforts to strengthen defense cooperation and to advance shared interests and priorities, including NATO's deterrence and defense posture in the Baltic region.
Under Secretary Kahl thanked State Secretary Garisons for Latvia's significant military assistance to Ukraine, noting that Latvia is one of the largest contributors to Ukraine relative to the size of its economy. The leaders emphasized their steadfast commitment to Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
