UNESCO Chief Laments Death of Palestinian Media Worker

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, has deplored the death of media worker Ahmed Fatima in Palestine on 13 November 2023.

I deplore the death of Ahmed Fatima. I reiterate my call to respect UN Security Council Resolution 2222/2015 on the protection of journalists, media professionals and associated personnel as civilians in situations of conflict and I call for a full independent investigation into the circumstances of his death.

Fatima was a photographer for Al-Qahera News and a media worker with Press House Palestine. He was reportedly killed in an airstrike while reporting in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
