Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO, has condemned the killing of journalist Eduardo Fernando Mendizabal Gálvez in a suburb of Guatemala City on 18 March.
I condemn the killing of Eduardo Fernando Mendizabal Gálvez and call on the authorities to investigate this crime and bring its perpetrators to justice. Violence targeting journalists and their right to exercise their profession deprives society, notably local communities, of the ability to enjoy other rights, including the right to information.Audrey Azoulay
