The Australian Workers' Union (AWU) is shocked to hear of the death of a worker at Newmont's Tanami gold mine situated in a remote part of the Northern Territory, yesterday afternoon.
The AWU sends its sincere condolences to their friends and family and to their colleagues onsite who are understandably upset.
The AWU calls on the Mine Operator (Newmont) and NT WorkSafe to undertake an open and transparent investigation.
