Union's Festive Season Hypocrisy Exposed

NSW Nationals

Nationals Senator for NSW, Ross Cadell, says forestry members of the Timber, Furnishing and Textiles Union (TFTU) have been served up on a platter to support Labor's dirty deal with The Greens in a move akin to the turkey serving itself up on Thanksgiving.

Last week, Labor and The Greens did a dirty deal to pass controversial changes to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act that will decimate Australia's forestry sector and deliver the death knell to an industry under siege from inner city environmentalists.

Senator Cadell, the Shadow Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Water, and Emergency Management, said the Timber, Furnishing and Textiles Union had cut down its members as collateral damage to blindly follow the instructions of its Labor masters.

"Last time I checked the union existed for its members, not to run a protection racket for the dirty deal done between Labor and The Greens," Cadell said.

"The claim that we're 'mimicking Green talking points' is complete hypocrisy from the TFTU who have been non-existent in the lead up to last week's vote.

"The TFTU has thrown its support behind the Forestry Industry Growth Fund as if they think $300 million will even save one job.

"Labor just spent $96 million on a new website for the Bureau of Meteorology that doesn't work. How could we expect they can save an industry for $300 million?

"The festive season always brings out the turkey. This week has brought out the Timber, Furnishing and Textiles Union."
