University of Freiburg Issues Invitation for 41st (Winter) Colloquium "Forestry and Wood" on 30 June and 1 July 2022

In early summer 2021, Germans were asking why lumber for building was so expensive and wood was so scarce in general. Experts were unable to confirm this or answer these questions precisely because there were no reliable statistical sources. The current geopolitical situation has since worsened general uncertainty about the actual security of supplies.

Events on 30 June and 1 July 2022

That's why the winter colloquium "Forestry and Wood" - held this year in summer - is investigating reliability of the sources of data available to researchers with respect to the market for wood as well as the entire forestry sector. On Thursday, 30 June 2022 and Friday, 1 July 2022 at the University of Freiburg, experts from the wood sector will discuss a range of aspects regarding the bases of information for the forestry and wood industries. One particular objective is to work out which bases of information will be needed in future in order to be prepared for the challenges that will come in the wake of anticipated and increasing dynamics in the climate, environment, politics, and the market.

Registration deadline: 12 June 2022

Anyone interested is cordially invited to attend the colloquium. Registration may be made until Sunday, 12 June 2022 at: www.winterkolloquium.uni-freiburg.de
