Strong performances in international outlook and research quality support UOW's Vision 2035
The University of Wollongong (UOW) has been ranked in the world's top 250 universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, placing it equal 11th in Australia.
UOW maintained its strong position despite a record 2,191 universities participating this year, excelling in international outlook and research quality to reinforce its status as one of the top ranked Australian universities.
Vice-Chancellor and President Professor G.Q. Max Lu AO said the result highlighted UOW's global education and research excellence.
"Our standing on the world stage reflects the strengths of our global connections and partnerships, and our ongoing efforts to support mobility, collaboration and engagement," Professor Lu said.
"This result builds momentum towards our Vision 2035 goal of being recognised among the world's top 100 universities by empowering student success, delivering world-leading teaching and research, and creating impact locally and globally."
The University's standout performance came in International Outlook, rising 33 places to rank 68th globally, reflecting UOW's achievements in global collaboration, diverse staffing and student populations, and strong research partnerships.
Other highlights included strong results across research productivity and research excellence, and patents and research influence. The University posted an improved score in the International Students indicator, reflecting its appeal as a global study destination.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings assess universities across five pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
