Detectives from Strike Force Trident are investigating an incident at a Jingili residence in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A number of small items were stolen from the property and police believe the offenders were attempting to remove a dirt bike, when they awoke a dog residing on the property. The youths allegedly fled to avoid being bitten.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "On reviewing CCTV, Trident members identified two youths, and arrested a 15-year-old male a short time later. He was found still in possession of the stolen property.
"Enquiries are continuing to locate the second offender, who is known to police."
The 15-year-old will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
