Unlawful entry to motor vehicles and wounding, Gold Coast District

Gold Coast police are investigating a series of unlawful entry and wilful damage to motor vehicles offences overnight, Queensland Police say.

Around 11.00pm, police were called to Waterford Court Bundall, following reports that a group of approximately five people had damaged a glass window of an apartment building, as well as unlawfully entering and damaging five vehicles in a carpark.

Vehicles at Gray Street, Balmoral Avenue and Slatyer Avenue had also been unlawfully entered.

The group was sighted leaving the scene in two vehicles which had been stolen from a private residence at Glyn Street, Benowa, earlier in the night – a red 2013 Jeep Compass and a red 2016 Holden Trax. Both cars were located at Claymore Crescent, Bundall, around 2.30am.

Around 12.30am, police were called to an address at Taperell Drive, Tugun, following reports that a group of people had damaged a further four cars in the street.

Another vehicle at Tooloona Street had its windows smashed and property strewn across the road.

A vehicle then crossed the border into NSW, before returning to damage cars at Surfers Paradise.

Around 2.45am, police were called to an address at Fiesta Avenue, following reports that a group of people in were unlawfully trying to enter a car.

Due to the noise, the owner of a vehicle on Fiesta Avenue confronted approximately five people. They began assaulting him, causing a wound to his neck and to his head.

The victim was transported to hospital suffering serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The group left the scene in a stolen 2006 Black Holden Commodore with the Queensland registration "312 VNL".

Investigations continue.
