Unlawful use of motor vehicle charges at Gold Coast

Police have charged two teenagers in relation to a stolen vehicle incident on the Gold Coast overnight.

It will be alleged the vehicle, a white Subaru, was stolen from an address in Bilinga early yesterday morning (November 20).

The vehicle was spotted by police on Southport Nerang Road at approximately 7.45pm last night.

It will be alleged the vehicle was driving dangerously and on the wrong side of the road.

PolAir tracked the vehicle as it travelled south into New South Wales just before 9pm.

A short time later, the vehicle crossed back into Queensland and travelled north on the Gold Coast Highway to Southport.

Where, at approximately 9:45pm, police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device.

The vehicle continued to travel south into Surfers Paradise where it came to a stop near Cavill Avenue, and the two occupants were taken into custody.

A 16-year-old Runaway Bay boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving without a licence.

A 15-year-old Peranga boy has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Both boys are expected to appear before Southport Children's Court.
