Unlawful use of motor vehicle in Townsville, QLD

Police have charged three youths with a number of property offences following a series of incidents in Townsville yesterday., Queensland Police say

It will be alleged that around 12.30am yesterday morning (January 6), a BMW station wagon was stolen from a Stanton Terrace address in North Ward.

Around 4.20am, police conducting patrols in West End observed the vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of Ingham Road and Crowley Street. It will be alleged that police attempted to intercept the vehicle as it approached Woolcock Street, but the vehicle failed to stop.

It is further alleged the occupants of the vehicle stole cans of deodorant from a service station on Thuringowa Drive in Kirwan around 7.30am then drove away from a service station on Bayswater Road in Mount Louisa without paying for petrol.

The station wagon has then allegedly driven in an erratic manner on Dalrymple Road in Currajong, side-swiping a vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle was located around 4pm on Einsleigh Crescent in Pimlico.

A 15-year-old Pimlico boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, fail to stop motor vehicle, stealing, driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence, and fail to comply with duties of driver involved in a crash.

A 15-year-old Roseneath girl has been charged with two counts of stealing and one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old Pimlico girl has been charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

Investigations are continuing and police anticipate further charges.
