Unlawful wounding at Palm Island, QLD

Police have charged a man after a teenager was allegedly stabbed at Palm Island yesterday, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged late in the afternoon three men and a 17-year-old man were socialising at a private residence in Cooktown Street when an argument has commenced.

The four agreed to go to the street for a consensual fight. Whilst walking to the street the teenage boy has hit one of the men with a stick then one of the other men chased the teenager with a knife. The teenager tripped and fell and the man allegedly stabbed him with a small knife in the neck, twice in the lower abdomen and once under his armpit.

Police located and arrested a man shortly after.

A 28-year-old Palm Island man has been charged with one count of unlawful wounding and one count of obstruct police. He will appear at the Townsville Magistrates Court today, May 28.

The 17-year-old Palm Island victim was airlifted to the Townsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
